June 2021- Regional Food System Partnership Meeting
Time & Location
About the Event
Demand for local food has grown throughout the Western Slope and the Front Range. However, farmers, food hubs and distributors servicing our region lack the logistics capacity to aggregate and scale up their operations to increasingly and consistently sell into regional institutional and retail outlets.
We need to coordinate marketing and crop production with demand planning and inventory management, to improve transportation coordination and per-unit hauling efficiency, and to design sustainable processing and warehousing solutions. We need to empower small and mid-scale local food producers to sell into multiple channels efficiently and also aggregate products to supply the consistency and convenience local buyers require?
This coordination begins with building a digital system within our region and with neighboring regions to connect producers, distributors, mid-tier value chain businesses, and buyers to share accurate, reliable, and timely data. What will it take? Where do we start?
This is what we will discuss in this month's online meeting.
